Ryan Harper produced the 2006 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize Nominee Steel City with Rusty Gray and writer-director Brian Jun. Starring John Heard (Home Alone) and America Ferrera (TVs Ugly Betty) the film was released theatrically to rave reviews in 2007 before arriving on DVD in the spring of 2008 through Peace Arch Entertainment.


Steel City was produced through Harpers production company, Your Half Pictures, a company he created in 1998 with visual effects producer Josh Jaggars (Hancock). Through Your Half, Harper produced and directed the 2004 film 30 Miles. Starring Lawrence Hilton Jacobs, the film was released worldwide on DVD by Maverick Entertainment. Harper also served as a producer on the 2008 release On the Doll from acclaimed video director Thomas Mignone starring Brittany Snow (Prom Night) which was released on DVD in June of 2008 as well as the upcoming documentary CamGirls. Harper will next produce the film The Rapids reuniting him with Steel City writer-director Brian Jun. Harper is also developing a big-screen adaptation of the book Eddie Would Go, based on the life of famed Hawaiian big wave surfer, Eddie Aikau.


In his role as producer and owner of Your Half Pictures, Harper has served numerous films in a wide range of capacities. He has acquired low-budget films to act as their distributor, such as for the film Stealing Martin Lane starring Dylan Baker (Spider-Man 2) and Isiah Whitlock Jr. (The Wire). He has invested in and served as an advisor for films like Little Athens which was released by ThinkFilms in 2006. Harper also released the dvd for the documentary Witch Hunt from executive producer Sean Penn which premiered on MSNBC on April of 2009 through his distribution division, Your Half Media Group. Harper is currently producing the follow-up documentary from Witch Hunt filmmakers Don Hardy & Dana Nachman, Love Hate Love.


In the spring of 2008 Harper became a co-owner of Anarchy Post, an audio post-production facility in Glendale, CA. This state of the art facility also serves as the base of operations for Your Half Media Group and has allowed the company to expand the number of services available to filmmakers.


Prior to his work at Your Half Pictures, Harper worked as a production manager for Propaganda Films and in house for director Michael Bay.


A native of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Harper earned a film degree from San Jose State University and continued his studies in the UCLA Masters program. He resides in Glendale with his wife and son.
